Our Rooms
Children need an inspirational environment where they feel secure and comfortable to grow to their full potential.
Zizus has 5 rooms carefully designed for children at different stages of their development, with ever changing mini-world areas and toys to keep children’s curiosity piqued. With lots of light and an abundance of plants in every room helping to bring the outside in.
Zebras
A bright, airy and spacious room, with space for children to evolve their movement skills from crawling to walking, age appropriate toys, and activities which have all been planned for the development of your child. There is a cosy quiet/sleep area with a variety of cots, mattresses and chairs, where children are able to go to sleep in whichever way they feel most comfortable.
Crocs
With direct access to their own garden space, children are able to stretch their legs and explore nature. Activities are planned throughout the day to support each individual child’s learning journey, with a focus on developing early literacy skills through story time, singing, and games.
Tigers
The room is divided into different areas of learning giving them the freedom to learn new skills. The activities are purposefully set up to provide the necessary stimuli to develop children’s language skills, thought processes, turn-taking and interactions. We enjoy a lot of short story time and singing sessions every day.
The room has a variety of activities on offer to suit the individual needs of busy two year old’s including a messy play area which doubles up as their dining room area. Low level children’s toilets and sinks are accessible for children to support their journey with toilet training.
Parrots
When they are ready, children move upstairs into Pre-school. With a whole floor to themselves, there is more than enough space to have fun and learn. Although children are still learning through play and mainly engaged in free play, the room has some more structure through a mixture of child- and adult-led activities to meet the needs of this age group. We have regular circle time, registration, singing and story time, slowly preparing children for their transition to school. The children’s toilets and cloakroom are connected to this room to encourage the children to develop independence in self-care when they are ready, whilst still being under close supervision.
Giraffes
Our oldest children are in the giraffes room. This is where we focus on getting the children ready for school, with more structure to the day and adult-led activities such as circle time where we discuss feelings, our families, and share experiences.
The Garden
The garden is one of our favourite places at Zizus. Outdoor learning can have a positive impact on a child’s development. It helps with children’s social skills as well as their long-term wellbeing, physical and emotional development.
It includes a wide range of activities which have been designed to provide children with a healthy, happy body and mind. The garden includes a growing area, mud kitchen, woodland area, storytelling chair, water play, climb and build corner, tyres and bikes. It allows children to get active in the outdoors, breathe in fresh air, and have fun at the same time.
